The challenge
Spent baths are the most aggressive liquid waste a workshop produces.
Surface treatment concentrates hazard by design. Pickling and etching acids, degreasing alkalis, plating baths carrying chromium, nickel, zinc, copper and cadmium, cyanide-bearing solutions, and the hydroxide sludges left behind by on-site effluent plants. Every one of them is corrosive, metal-loaded, or both.
These streams cannot be blended, cannot be neutralised in a yard, and cannot sit in drums indefinitely. Magma accepts them as segregated consignments at BeAAT, where liquid, sludge and solid fractions each have a defined route — so a workshop deals with one operator instead of chasing capacity per bath.

01 — PRE-TREATMENT
Degreasing & pickling
Spent alkaline degreasers, solvent cleaning residues, pickling and etching acids loaded with dissolved iron and scale.
02 — COATING
Plating, anodising & painting
Exhausted plating and anodising baths, chromating and phosphating solutions, cyanide-bearing electrolytes, paint sludges and overspray.
03 — RINSE & EFFLUENT
Water treatment residues
Rinse waters, metal hydroxide sludges and filter cakes from on-site effluent plants, spent ion exchange resins and filter media.

Bath analysis to confirm metal loading, pH, cyanide and chromium VI content, and the compatible treatment route.
Segregated collection
Specified packaging per stream, acids kept apart from cyanides, IBC or bulk uplift with manifests per consignment.
Treatment
Neutralisation, processing or final disposal at BeAAT, with metal recovery prioritised where the bath allows.
Traceability
Documented chain of custody and disposal records for your HSE and regulatory reporting.
