The challenge

Spent baths are the most aggressive liquid waste a workshop produces.

Surface treatment concentrates hazard by design. Pickling and etching acids, degreasing alkalis, plating baths carrying chromium, nickel, zinc, copper and cadmium, cyanide-bearing solutions, and the hydroxide sludges left behind by on-site effluent plants. Every one of them is corrosive, metal-loaded, or both.

These streams cannot be blended, cannot be neutralised in a yard, and cannot sit in drums indefinitely. Magma accepts them as segregated consignments at BeAAT, where liquid, sludge and solid fractions each have a defined route — so a workshop deals with one operator instead of chasing capacity per bath.

Where your waste is treated

Surface treatment waste is handled at BeAAT. Where a stream also carries radioactivity, our NORM plant takes it under the same contract.
